Herbie & Marta get married! | Cape May wedding photographer

Ah, Herbie & Marta’s Cape May wedding.  What a day!  I woke up that Sunday and it was raining.  And it wasn’t a drizzle.  We’re talking driving rain, street puddles and dark clouds the morning of their BEACH wedding.  Completely freaked out,  I compulsively checked the radar on my phone.  I watched a huge green and red blob float through Cape May county.  Luckily it moved fairly quickly and by 2 pm the sun started to peek through the clouds.  We were left with an amazingly blue sky and warm temps.

I met Marta, her girls and her family at the gorgeous Congress Hall while she was getting ready.  We stepped out front to do a few portraits before hopping in two horse drawn carriages ready to take us to the beach.  (It should have been a two minute ride.  Congress Hall is literally across the street from the beach.)  Since we were running a few minutes early, we took the “scenic route” and ended up a bit late because the street we took was blocked by a tow truck.  (Horse drawn carriages don’t go in reverse and this tow truck didn’t care we had a bride anxiously waiting to meet her hubby to be).  Thankfully, we finally made it and it was worth the wait.  Plus, who doesn’t love a fashionably late entrance by a gorgeous bride?!

The officiant was a good friend of Herbie & Marta’s which made for a very touching ceremony.  I’ll admit, when he got choked up I did as well.  (Admittedly, I haven’t shot a wedding where I haven’t cried).  It was a beautiful ceremony and the love they share for one another is incredible.  They were surrounded by their daughter, their friends and family who cried happy tears and cheered along with us when they sealed their marriage with a kiss.

After pictures, we headed to the Mad Batter to get the party started.  Their family owns this amazing restaurant & B&B.  I used to go to the Mad Batter with my family every summer growing up.  Walking in there brought back some great memories!  They closed the restaurant for the night, made a beer garden next to the B&B and welcomed their guests into a beautifully decorated venue.  It was a relaxed atmosphere where everyone danced, ate, drank and laughed the whole night through.  It was such a fun night and I’m so glad I was a part of it.  And big thanks to my second shooter Cecilia for working with me that night as well!
